Lady Gaga who is ‘Born this way,’ is controversy’s favourite child and wants to keep it that way
“I’M BEAUTIFUL in my way…’Cause God makes no mistakes, I’m on the right track baby, I was born this way.” If we go by Lady Gaga’s album ‘Born this way’ title song, we might somewhat understand this mystic soul. Lady Gaga is controversy’s favourite child as she creates fresh controversies with everything she does. Her name is synonymous with words such as eccentric, weird and bizarre. Inspite of all the adjectives, it is well-known that Lady Gaga, who is famous for her sense of fashion, is one of the favourites of the Paparazzi.
The American song writer and singer shot to fame when Akon, the rapper, recognised her talent. Although now, she is very popular for her sporting dresses, which barely conceal the necessary, everyone doesn’t know that she comes from a very sedate and simple catholic background. She is also from a Catholic school but now we cannot construe anything of her background, except for the occasion mention of the Bible in her songs, which again does nothing more than to raise eyebrows and makes the press go crazy debating over it.
Originally named as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, she became Lady Gaga quite by chance. The music producer Rob Fusari, who was also romantically linked with the singer, was helping her to write some songs in the initial start of her career. He used to greet her with the song Radio Ga ga, every morning. At the same time the singer was looking for a pseudonym, when she received a text from Rob saying Lady Gaga, and she decided that it would be perfect for her. Rob later explained that actually he was texting the words, “Radio Gaga to her, when the text auto corrected the word ‘radio’ to ‘lady’, and that is how Lady Gaga was born.
As quoted in Wikipedia, in school she was very studious and disciplined. Lady Gaga further adds, “I used to get made fun of for being either too provocative or too eccentric, so I started to tone it down. I didn’t fit in, and I felt like a freak.” After moving from her home, she started writing songs, as she felt a natural inclination towards the glamour world. It is known that she was hired to write songs for Britney Spears and the likes, when Akon discovered her.
Her work is a harmonious blend of different kinds of sounds. Right from steel drums to hand claps, her songs has everything. The copies of her first album, ‘The Fame,’ sold over fourteen million copies and received positive reviews from contemporary critics. It became the number one album across 5 countries, United Kingdom, Canada, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Ireland and remained one of the top five albums in Australia and US. One of the singles, ‘The poker face’, was hugely popular among fans, who loved the singer almost at once. Her subsequent albums, The Fame monster, Bad romance and Telephone, garnered similar kind of attention. This proved that she was more than just a one-time fluke.
She has won more than one Grammy, numerous Billboard music awards, and to top it all, she has also won two places in the Guinness World Records; as she sold the highest number of copies of the ‘Born this way’ album, and also for being the most downloaded album of the year.
The singer, who time and again has sported blue, pink and orange wigs, has a weird and different kind of dressing sense, which is not understood by most of the people. She doesn’t have a penchant of being the most fairest of all but she is not a crowd follower, which she has proved time-and-again. Right from donning a meat dress, where she wore carcass of dead animals, to the bubble dress, she has tried it all.
Talking about her list controversies, there are many, however the latest one is where she dresses as Lady Magdalene and call Judas a Fool. Many religious, people are affronted by the song, where the singer proclaims her love for Judas. Not only that, she is a self proclaimed bisexual, has breast milk ice creams for kids named after her as ‘baby gaga’, and has also created the album Alejandro, where she is seen sucking the rosary.
All said and done, this Lady takes pride in the way God created her, as she herself said in an interview to the NME magazine, “I am not going to start churning out what you expect. If you’re looking for me to be something that isn’t there, stop looking. I am not that. I am not created.”
